    Crucible educational hike! 5-6 mile out and back. We will stop every mile or so for about 10 minutes and go over something related to hiking. Topics we may cover: fire starting, filtering water, med kits, packing your backpack, etc.

    9 mile out and back on the Waterloo-Pinckney Trail. Discovery Center to Green Lake and back.

Land Navigation 1 & 2

Are you interested in learning how to navigate by map and compass? If so, this class is for you! Four hours of classroom instruction, followed by in-the-field experience. Lunch will be provided.

2025 CRUCIBLE HIKES

  • Waterloo-Pinckney Trail

    April 12, 2025

    The Waterloo-Pinckney Crucible is a 22 mile self-supported endurance hike along the Waterloo-Pinckney Trail.

    Participants will have 12 hours to complete The Crucible hiking route. Aid stations will be at four to six mile intervals where the Crucible Crew will be posted with log books. Each hiker will receive an event T-Shirt the morning of the event and a patch upon completion of the hike.

    Tickets go on sale January 1, 2025, and are $70 each. Click HERE to purchase tickets.

    Camping will be available at the event site.

  • Jordan Valley Pathway

    The Jordan Valley Pathway Crucible is a 20 mile loop near Elmira, Michigan.

    Participants will have 12 hours to complete The Crucible hiking route, and will receive a patch if successful. Hikers will also receive an event T-Shirt during registration the morning of the event. Check points will be at 5-7 mile intervals where our Crucible Crew will be posted with log books.

    Tickets will go on sale July 5, 2025, and are $70 each.

    Rustic camping is available at the event, suitable for tents and small RV’s. There are no trees for hammocks.
